ALEXANDRIA, VA--Arthur Lloyd “Coozie” McWilliams died peacefully on Tuesday, 19 November 2013 at his home in Alexandria, VA from complications of Multiple Sclerosis and Colon Cancer. He was born on 26 July 1946 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the son of Arthur Lloyd McWilliams, Senior and Marie Emilie McWilliams, and grew up in Albion, Maine. Following graduation from Besse High School in 1964, Arthur joined the Army rising to the rank of Sergeant Major. During his Army career, he served in California, Pennsylvania, Thailand, Germany, Laos, Japan, Washington DC and Belgium; attended the Sergeant Major’s Academy at Fort Bliss Texas and earned his Master’s Degree from Catholic University of America. Following retirement from the Army, he returned to Albion, Maine to take care of his Mother, Emilie, and to enjoy hiking, boating and four-wheeling at Lake Moxie. He always considered Maine home even after he moved to Alexandria in 2000. He is survived by his wife, Annie; and many dear friends. A graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am, July 25, 2014, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Albion, Maine.
