WINSLOW—Arthur Joseph Plourde passed away of natural causes, peacefully at home with his loving family by his side, on Wednesday, March 3, 2021.\r\n\r\nHe was born in Waterville on April 9, 1930, the son of the late Chester and Alberta Martin Plourde. He married his wife, Jacqueline LaChance Plourde on August 1, 1953.\r\n\r\nArtie, as he was known by his friends, was educated in Winslow and graduated from Winslow High School in 1948. He worked at Keyes Fibre/Hutamaki for 36 years, retiring in 1992. Following his retirement, Artie and Jackie traveled and spent many winters in Myrtle Beach, SC. \r\n\r\nArthur enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family. He was an avid card player and was always up for a friendly, but serious game of cribbage. He will also be missed by his best friends, David Guite and John and Joan Dore.\r\n\r\nArthur leaves behind, Jacqueline, his loving wife of 67 years, who cared for him until the very end; his sons, Daniel and his wife, Mariann of Waterville, James and his wife, Diane of Winslow, Peter and his wife, Laurie of Ebeemee Twp., Stephen and his wife, Katie of Exeter, NH, and Ronald and his wife, Joni of Sidney.\r\n\r\nHe is also survived by his brothers, Bob and his wife, Rita, and Larry and his wife, Noella; and his sister, Jeannine Breton. Arthur had a large and loving family including cousins, nieces, nephews, eleven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.\r\n\r\nArthur was predeceased by his sisters, Germain Ferland, and Jane Gallant; and his brother, Richard Plourde.\r\n\r\nThe family would like to give special thanks to Northern Lights Home Health and Hospice team members for their loving support and care in Arthur’s time of need. We would also like to give a special thank you to his caregiver, Lorna Ramos.\r\n\r\nThere will be no visiting hours. A celebration of Arthur’s life and burial will be held at a later date in the spring.
