Babara J. Bowen, 74, of Waterville, Maine passed away at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta on Saturday, September 10, 2011, after a long period of poor health. Barbara was born in Waterville on April 18, 1937, the daughter of the later Asher R. and Claudia L. (Perry) Bowen. She resided for many years in Benton Station, and for the last twenty years has been a resident of Quarry Road Residential in Waterville. Barbie could display a quick wit, and bring on a smile or laughter right to the end. She was a kind hearted person who loved animals, particularly her cat. Survivors include a daughter, Jen and husband Matthew Hohenboken, MD, PHD, of Boston, MA, and their children Larisa and Rebekka; her brothers, William Bowen and wife Gwen of Bedford, N.H., Edward Bowen of Benton, and Paul Bowen and wife Johnna of Winslow; her sister Ruth Watson and husband Gerald of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, David P. Bowen. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the first floor of MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta for their excellent care. We would also like to thank the staff at Quarry Road Residential for their above and beyond care of Barbie, and also her friend, Angela at Quarry Road, for all the help she gave Barbie. Private services will be held at a later date.
