FAIRFIELD, MAINE—Betty J. Murray, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 13, 2012, at her home in Fairfield, Maine. She was born in Chautauqua, New York on May 29, 1926. Betty was a devoted wife of 55 years to her late husband, Roy Murray. She always put the needs of her family before her own. She was employed by various businesses throughout the years, from shoe factories, restaurants, Dunkin Donuts, and local bakeries. Betty was a dedicated employee and took her employment seriously. She retired in 1988, but continued to work part time until 2002. Betty enjoyed fishing. Her favorite place to go was at the wharf on Moosehead Lake in Greenville, Maine. She also enjoyed taking rides, lawn sales, BBQ’s, or just sitting on her patio watching the hummingbirds and watching the great grandchildren at play. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Roy Murray; her son, Elmer Roy Murray; her granddaughter, Amy Carol Murray; and three great grandchildren, Amanda Murray, Franklin Roy Green, and Dylan Michael Green. She will be sadly missed by her children, Sandra Green and her husband, Granville Jr. of Fairfield, Maine, Steve Murray and his companion, Roxanne Bolieau of Fairfield, Maine, Cheryl Murray and her companion, Jan Silverstein of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Dorinda Hunter and her husband, Bryan of Albion, Maine, and Richard Murray and his wife, Cindy of Albion, Maine; her daughter-in-law, Betsy Murray of Enfield, New Hampshire; a sister-in-law, Madeline Parsons of Orono, Maine; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and many special friends. A very special thank you goes out to HealthReach Hospice for the excellent care and support Betty received. Visiting hours will be on Saturday, September 15, from 4-6 p.m. at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield, Maine.
