FAIRFIELD, ME--It is with great sadness that the family of Catherine “Cay” Auriemma announces her passing. Catherine, 80, of Fairfield, ME, formerly of Machiasport, ME, and Weehawken, NJ, died peacefully with her family at her side on October 15, 2018, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, ME. \r\n\r\nBorn on January 31,1938, in Jersey City, NJ, Catherine was the daughter of John and Ruth “Daum” Mack; she graduated from Farleigh Dickinson High School in Jersey City, NJ.\r\n\r\nBefore retiring, Catherine was the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Nursing at Down East Community Hospital and leaves behind many good friends from her time at DECH. She enjoyed traveling, was an avid reader, calligrapher, and foodie.\r\n\r\nIn addition to her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her husband, Ralph P. Auriemma of Machiasport, ME; and brothers, Timothy and John Mack of Bluffton, SC. \r\n\r\nShe is survived by her sister, Constance McDougal; daughter, Susan Paz and husband, Otto; daughter, Lisa Auriemma; and grandchildren, Robert and Christina Acosta. Catherine also leaves behind three great grandchildren, Clark, Talia, and Lorna Acosta.\r\n\r\nA Mass of Christian Burial for family and friends will be celebrated at Notre Dame du Perpetual Secours, 116 Silver Street, Waterville ME, on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. After the service, family and friends are invited to Catherine’s home at 21 Newhall Street, Fairfield, ME, for light refreshments.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Catherine’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Fairfield Interfaith Food Pantry, 23 Lawrence Ave, Fairfield, ME 04937.
