Unity, Maine-Charlene Black, 81, of Unity, Maine, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2012. She passed peacefully in her sleep while on vacation. She was a special and loving person and will be missed by her family and friends. Charlene was born in Unity, Maine on June 27, 1931, daughter of the late Katherine Rollins and Harold Pushor. She attended Unity High School and graduated Mt. View Adult Education in 1979. She worked twenty years at Penobscot Poultry and ended her working career serving fellow seniors in home health care. She was involved in organizing her high school reunions and several clubs and organizations. She especially loved family get-togethers and visiting with friends. Traveling with family was a passion of hers. She was a fabulous care-giver, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and was loved by many. She gave the best hugs in the world. She is predeceased by her husbands, Robert Carmichael in 1969, and William Black in 1999; and a daughter Sandra Lee in 1949; and her brothers, Roger Pushor, and Curwood Pushor. She is survived by sister, Anne Reynolds of Unity, Maine; her three daughters, Sharon Leathers and her husband Allan of Unity, Maine, Connie Carmichael of Unity, Maine, and Janet Morse of Unity, Maine; a son-in-law, James Morse of Unity, Maine. In addition, she is survived by ten grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren with one more on the way; and her special cousin Kenola. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 8, from 2-4 p.m. at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main Street, Fairfield, Maine. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, August 9, at Quaker Hill Church in Unity, Maine. A private burial will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Freedom, Maine.
