UNITY, ME--Cora Mae (Penney) Carmichael, born October 31, 1937, went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, November 1, 2015. Cora died peacefully with her family at her side. \r\n\r\nCora was born at home on Quaker Hill Road in Unity, Maine at her grandparent's home. On October 31, 1953, she married the love of her life, Sheldon Carmichael Sr., whom she has now joined in Heaven.\r\n\r\nCora was a loving and caring soul with a heart of gold. Her day was complete when she could help someone in need. Her heart was filled with joy to spend time with her family. Cora enjoyed working many years of her life with her husband on the farm and being a wonderful loving mother to their 6 children. Her day was never done until each child was fed and bathed before bed. She will be sadly missed by many.\r\n \r\nCora is predeceased by her husband, Sheldon; her parents, Benjamin and Dolly (Thompson) Penney; her brother, Benjamin Penney Jr.; her sisters, Sharon (Penney) Henry, Marguerite (Penney) Raven, and Winnie (Penney) Morton. \r\n\r\nCora is survived by her children, Sheldon Carmichael Jr. and his wife, Wanda of Campobello Island, NB, Kathy Carmichael of Orrington, ME, Melonie (Carmichael) Kaufmann and her husband, Dicky of Benton, ME, Darrell Carmichael of Sidney, ME, Bonita Faith (Carmichael) Hobart and her husband, Jeff of Omro, WI, and Wendy Carmichael of Freedom, ME. \r\n\r\nShe is also survived by her grandchildren, Holly (Curtis) MacDonald, Charity (Curtis) Vines, Benjamin Carmichael, Matthew Carmichael, Katie Carmichael, Joseph A. Picard, Jesse E. Picard, Jessica M. Phillips, Jacob Phillips, Tyler L. Borgers, Lyle Hanson and Ginny Lee; along with many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. \r\n\r\nThere will be a graveside service officiated by Pastor Matthew Shaw held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the Rogers Cemetery on the Rogers Road in Troy, Maine. \r\n\r\nIn Lieu of flowers, donations can be given to The Lighthouse Christian School in Brooks, ME. \r\n\r\nThere will be a celebration of Cora's life following the service at the Unity United Methodist Church, 13 Depot St. in Unity, Maine. \r\n\r\nGod Bless.
