Clinton, Maine-Doris E. Mower, 54, of Clinton, Maine, died unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, June 14, 2012, in Clinton, Maine. She was born in Waterville, Maine on March 20, 1958, the daughter of the late Lermond E. Mower, Jr., and Mary Arlene (Gray) Mower. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School, class of 1976. Doris was a Registered Nurse at Redington-Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan, Maine for several years. She also was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, serving at several capacities. She went with the Red Cross to help with relief when Hurricane Katrina struck. Doris was the first female EMT in the State of Maine. She was employed by the town of Clinton, Maine and worked on the Ambulance and Fire Truck in the early 80’s. She enjoyed tole painting, and taught tole painting. She owned and operated Crafters Choice in Skowhegan, Maine from 1992-2010. She was an avid hunter, loved fishing and gold panning. She also loved her animals. She is survived by her three siblings Lermond E. Mower, III, and his fiancé Phil-Ann Gordon of Bingham, Maine, Terry B. Mower of Dover, Delaware, and Sherry Cavanaugh of Waterville, Maine; a nephew James E. Bailey, Jr., and his wife Sharon of Haverhill, MA; a grandniece Maryann Bailey of Haverhill, MA; special friends Willie and Ginny Marsh and family of Skowhegan, Maine; and faithful companions Scooter and Skeeter. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 19, at 11 a.m. at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main Street, Fairfield, Maine, with Pastor Bill Lawrence officiating.
