Doris M. Pillsbury, 93, of Waterville, Maine passed away following a brief illness on Thursday, August 18, 2011, at Maine General Medical Center Thayer Campus in Waterville. She was born in Waterville on August 10, 1918, the daughter of the late Arthur and Grace (Proudman) Pollard. Doris was a graduate of Winslow High School, and Thomas Collage. She married Laurence B. Pillsbury and together they shared many years together until his passing on October 23, 1993. Following WWII, Doris was employed as a machinist in Portland. She was a member of Fairfield First Baptist Church, member of Goodwill Rebecca Lodge in Fairfield, and volunteered at MaineGeneral Medical Center-Thayer Campus in Waterville for over 20 years. During WWII, she volunteered with the Civil Service in Washington DC. Some of her enjoyments during her younger years include square dancing with her husband, spending winters in Florida, reading, and knitting. Doris will be sadly missed by her daughter, Laurie Williams and her companion, Dick Trefethen of Waterville; her son, Gary Pillsbury and his wife, Liz of Waterville; her grandchildren, Steven Morang of Kingman, Arizona, and Crystal DeVogt and her husband, Cory of Waterville; great grandchildren, Sebastian, Alexis, Keelan, and Michaela DeVogt all of Waterville; her step grandchildren, Tammy Forester, Thomas Williams, and Bruce Williams all of Fairfield; and her step great grandson, Chad Bagley of Fairfield. A graveside service will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterville, Maine with Pastor Steve Donahue officiating.
