CHINA, MAINE – Dorothy “Dot” (Hysom) Clifford, 96, of China, Maine, and formerly of Windsor, Maine, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2013. Dot was born in Windsor, Maine on September 19, 1916, the daughter of Herman and Vida (Savage) Hysom. She grew up on Windsor Neck, and lived there for almost her entire life. On September 5, 1936, Dot married Everett Clifford in Albion, Maine. For much of her life she was a dedicated homemaker, raising two daughters, as well as being a foster mother for several children throughout her life. She was a devout Advent Christian, attending Weeks Mills Advent Christian Church with Everett. She was predeceased by Everett, her loving husband of 73 years. She is survived by two daughters: Faylene Cooper and her husband, Bill, of China, Maine, and Darlene Billing and her husband Bob of Washington, Maine; grandchildren Rebecca (French) Bragg and her partner Michael Hughes of Windsor, Maine, Sean Boynton and his wife, Jennifer, of China, Maine, Reggie French of Windsor, Maine, William Cooper of Augusta, Maine and Richard Cooper of Portland, Maine; and great-grandchildren Jessica, Joshua, Carea, Madison, Samuel, Tasha and Reggie; as well as several nieces and nephews. Per Dot’s request, there will be no visitation hours. A funeral service will take place at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, August 7 at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home – Gray Chapel, 207 Windsor Neck Road, Windsor, Maine. Burial will follow at Deer Hill Cemetery in Weeks Mills, Maine.
