Belgrade: Dwight Richard Alexander 71, died Wednesday October 9, 2013 at the US VA Medical Center Hospice at Togus after a two year battle with cancer. He was born in Belgrade on December 7, 1941 the son of Charles and Carolyn (Warren) Alexander. Dwight attended local schools, graduating from Williams High School in Oakland. He Served in the US Army. Dwight was employed many years by Central Maine Power and was a former member of the Belgrade Lions Club and the North Belgrade Fire Department. He had served on the Belgrade Planning Commissioin and volunteered at the Central Maine Recovery Group in Waterville. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his love of the outdoors. He is survived by his children, Craig Alexander of Belgrade and B.J. Penn and husband Scott of Lewisberry, Pa., brothers and sisters; Maxine Bouchard, Gail French, Edith Stratton and husband Wallace, Melvin Alexander, Mike Alexander and wife Penny, and Keith Alexander all of Belgrade, Brian Alexander of Rome, Diane Alexander and partner Julie of Berwick, Cory Alexander and wife Marsha of Oakland and Cindy Foss of Norridgewock, and many nieces and nephews. An outdoor memorial service in celebration of Dwight s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday October 13 at North Bay Estates, Bay View Drive - off Route 8 in North Belgrade (2 miles from route 137/Route 8 intersection and 4.3 miles from Route 27/Route 8 intersection). A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pine Tree Society 114 Pine Tree Camp Rd. Rome, ME. 04963.
