BENTON, ME—Edith Carrie Robinson, 92, of Benton, ME passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2016, at Oak Grove Center in Waterville, ME.\r\n\r\nShe was born in Benton, ME on Aug. 4, 1923, the daughter of the late Almon F. and Lelia M. (Clifford) Chamberlain.\r\n\r\nEdith attended schools in Benton and Fairfield, ME. She married Kelsey Robinson on Apr. 6, 1941, and they spent many wonderful years together until his passing on Mar. 2, 1997.\r\n\r\nShe was a great homemaker, and enjoyed raising her six children. She loved her family deeply. Edith was also a very good cook. She was well known for her minced meat squares, donuts, and molasses cookies. \r\n\r\nEdith was active in many worthwhile organizations including, the East Benton Community Club, the East Benton Ladies Aide Society, and the East Benton Christmas Club. \r\n\r\nBesides her parents, and her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Harvey Robinson and his wife, Donna; her grandson, Joel Robinson; her brothers, Ernest Chamberlain, and Almon Chamberlain Jr.; her sisters, Lucille Ham, Thelma McArthur, Carrie Chamberlain, and Helen Gurney; and her daughter-in-law, Beverly Robinson.\r\n\r\nEdith will be sadly missed by her children, Eugene Robinson, Horace Robinson and his wife, Pam, Gary Robinson and his wife, Mary, Maxine Dennis and her fiancé, Bob, and Joanne Gagnon and her husband, Roger; her sisters, Gladys Benner, June Fowler, and Christine Ravin; her sisters-in-law, Marilyn Chamberlain, and Ethel Chamberlain; 20 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and several nieces, and nephews.\r\n\r\nVisiting will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a funeral service to begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26 at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield, ME. Burial will take place in the spring.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, donations in Edith’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
