WATERVILLE, MAINE--Edith Suzanne “Edy Sue” Tibbetts, 63, passed away from complications due to Parkinson’s disease on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville, ME. Edy Sue was born on June 16, 1951, at Sister’s Hospital in Waterville, ME the daughter of Dean A. and Madeline B. (Chase) Reid. Her maternal and paternal grandparents were William and Aretha Chase and Alfred and Laura Reid, respectively, all from Fairfield, ME. Edy Sue had a very sweet and loving personality, enjoyed laughter and all the fun times spent with her family and friends. She remained very close to her loving parents until their deaths in 2001 and 2004. In her early childhood Edy Sue lived with her parents on Woodman Avenue in Fairfield, ME from 1952 to 1953. From 1954 to 1957, she resided on her family’s farm located on Benton Avenue in Winslow, ME and attended elementary school there. From 1958 to 1969, Edy Sue lived with her family in Fairfield, ME at their home on West Street and attended elementary, junior high and Lawrence High School. While attending school, Edy Sue enjoyed music, dancing, attending sporting events with her friends, cheerleading, hospital volunteer work and family activities at the Fairfield Baptist Church. In 1969, Edy Sue married Charlie Beane of Waterville, ME and lived in Germany while he was in the Army there. They later lived in Winslow, ME, before separating in 1976. In 1978, she married Jeffrey Tibbetts and resided in Skowhegan, ME until their subsequent separation in the 2000’s. In the 1980’s, Edy Sue put her cheery and compassionate nature to work as a caregiver at Klearview Manor Nursing Home in Fairfield, ME. She greatly enjoyed helping and bringing smiles to others there. Edy Sue’s oldest son, Andrew Bean of Waterville, ME, predeceased her in 1999. Her cousin Dean F Reid, of Skowhegan, ME, predeceased her in 2013. She is survived by son, Chad Beane of Skowhegan, ME; her daughter, Katrina Tibbetts and her fiancé, TJ Vigue of Waterville, ME; her grandson, Braeden Kyleb Vigue of Waterville, ME; her brother, Stephen Reid of Bethel, CT; and her niece, Starr McDaniel of Oakland, ME. Surviving paternal cousins include, Ron Brousseau of Burnham, Deanna King of Shawmut, ME, David Alley of Albion, ME, Bruce Alley and Kathy Tingley of Fairfield, ME, Brian Wolcott of Gorham, ME, and Bonnie Wolcott of Meredith, NH Surviving maternal cousins are, Dariel Saunders Buczek, Kathy Saunders Lewis, and Hal Saunders all of Winston-Salem, NC, and Kim Saunders Trotman of Asheville, NC and Howard Rock of Manteo, NC. Edy Sue’s family wishes to thank the staff of Volmer Country Living Center in Vassalboro, ME and Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville, ME for the care they provided to her over the last ten years. Interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Fairfield, ME. A private family memorial service will be held next summer in Maine.
