Clinton, Maine-Edna M. Barrett, 84, passed away at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine on October 15, 2016.\r\n\r\nEdna was born in East Orange, New Jersey to the late William and Edna (Cook) Bernhardt. She attended Red Bank High School in Red Bank, New Jersey.\r\n\r\nEdna had jobs here and there throughout her life but primarily was a homemaker taking care of her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, and camping. One of her favorite pastimes was knitting and crocheting. Edna also belonged to a weekly knitting group so she was able to share her love of knitting with many friends. Family was the most important thing to Edna and she always put everyone else first before herself. \r\n\r\nEdna was predeceased by her parents; and her brothers, William Bernhardt of Hilton Head, SC and Warren Bernhardt of Clinton.\r\n\r\nShe is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years Laurence Barrett of Clinton, ME; sister Nancy Winslow of Crystal River, FL; son James Whyte Jr. and his wife Patricia of Red Bank, NJ; daughters, Susan Lippens and her husband Luc of West Long Branch, NJ and Nancy Barrett of Clinton, ME; grandchildren, Zarrin Whyte, Layli Oliver and her husband Christopher, William Whyte, Stephen Lippens, Nicole Lippens, Michael Lippens, Eric Leighton, Josh Plummer and his wife Jessica, and Samantha Couture; great grandchildren, Bryce Leighton and his mother Clarissa King, and Reza Oliver; and many nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nA graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at Green Lawn Rest Cemetery in Clinton, ME.
