Edward Joseph Morin II Obituary (1938 - 2015)

VASSALBORO, ME—Edward Joseph Morin II, 76, passed away on Sunday morning, February 22, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family He was born in Waterville, ME on August 13, 1938, the son of the late Edward Joseph Morin and Evelyn Margaret Pooler. Ed attended Waterville schools, and entered the Air Force his senior year. He served on active duty from 1956 to 1963, and then with the Air National Guard. He was honorably discharged on December 31, 1994. His employment included being a Maine State Trooper, Kennebec County Jail, Town of Vassalboro Constable, and a courier for Purolator/Emery Worldwide. He was a member of the Waterville Elks Lodge #905. Ed became a Master Mason at Harwood Lodge #91 in 1963, and was affiliated with Vassalboro Lodge #54 in 1974, where he was Master in 1978 and 1987. He was also District Representative/District Deputy from 1990 to 1994 12th Masonic District. He was a member of Dunlap Chapter #12, Mount Lebanon Council #12, St. Omer Commandery #12, Past Prior of Knights of the York Cross of Honour, and a member of the Red Cross of Constantine. Ed became a Shriner, joining Anah Temple in Bangor in 1973, and was a member of Kora Temple where he was Emeritus Chief Aide. He was treasurer for Kora Kampers for many years. Ed was also a member of Kora Legion of Honor. He was a member of Put Stevens Royal Order of Jesters Court #107, and was also a member of the Order of Quetzalcoatl and Oket. Ed greatly enjoyed camping, and traveling with his wife. He always added to his collection of Shrine pins. Ed will be sadly missed by his wife of 28 years, Barbara (Finnimore) Morin; his daughters, Susan Rowe and her husband, Allen, Marie Bellows and her husband, Bob, Janet Lancaster and her husband, Mark, and Karin Gerow and her husband, Wayne; his sons, Kevin and his wife, Kathy, Shawn and his wife, Kathleen, and Jason; his step children, Kevin Closson and his wife, Cindy, Bonnie Roust and her husband, Jim, and Lori Closson; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Inland Hospital, and the staff of Hospice, especially Lori and Jesse for the wonderful care Ed received. Visiting hours will be from noon to 2 p.m. with a celebration of Ed’s life to begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, at Pleasant Street United Methodist Church in Waterville, ME. Burial will be later in the year at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, ME.
