North Belgrade- Eleanor “Ellie” Mae Wentzel Clark, 92, died peacefully at her home in North Belgrade on January 19, 2018.\r\n\r\nBorn March 16, 1925, the daughter of Ethel Lake and Roy A. Wentzel. After living in Sao Paulo Brazil in early childhood, her family moved to Augusta where she attended the Nash and Lincoln Schools and graduated from Cony High in 1943. \r\n\r\nDuring World War II she worked in Washington D.C. After the war she married Arthur L. Clark and worked for the University of Maine in Orono while he earned his degree. They then purchased a home in North Belgrade. After raising her children, she worked for the Belgrade Central School and Colby College in Waterville until her retirement. \r\n\r\nShe made the most out of her retirement by skiing with her children and grandchildren, bowling, and playing golf around Maine and attending programs at the Muskie Center. She could be found supporting the local people of Maine by volunteering for different organizations, visiting farmers markets, garden centers, craft fairs and the Common Ground Country Fair which was a favorite. Ellie enjoyed reading, knitting, quilting, live theater, music, exploring the mountains and coastal places in Maine, being with her family and at her home feeding the birds, gardening and spending time with nature. \r\n \r\nShe is survived by her husband Arthur L. Clark of 72 years; son Donald A. and wife Kim; daughters, Margaret “Peggy” Contreras and husband Carlos, Barbara Collins and husband Dean, and Nancy Jane Clark; brother Philip Wentzel who since her passing has passed; sister Lola Harris; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two cats Brownie and Cocoa.\r\n\r\nAll are welcome to join the family for a graveside service Saturday, June 9th, at 10:30 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade.
