ERROL F. CLEMENT\r\n1923-2016\r\n\r\nBENTON, ME—Errol F. Clement, 93, of Benton, ME passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta, ME.\r\n\r\nHe was born in Smithfield, ME on January 10, 1923, the son of the late Hanson and Ida (Caswell) Clement.\r\n\r\nErrol attended schools in Smithfield and Fairfield. Following his schooling, he served with the US Army during WWII from February 2, 1943 to December 4, 1945.\r\n\r\nOn October 21, 1949, he married the former Caroline Haskell. Errol worked various jobs over the years. Later in life he was employed by SAD 49 for 15 years. Following retirement, he was a self-employed mechanic, always tinkering on something for someone.\r\n\r\nErrol was a member and two times Commander for Fairfield VFW Post 6924. He was also a member of Fairfield American Legion Post 14.\r\n\r\nHe was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and plowing snow. He especially enjoyed playing competitive horseshoes, which he continued into his nineties. Errol was very well liked in the community and would always lend a helping hand to those in need.\r\n\r\nBesides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Errol W. Clement; his brothers, Malcolm, Leo, Erlon, Harry, and Theron; and his sisters, Josephine Sopia and Christine Bickford.\r\n\r\nErrol will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Caroline; his children, Sandra Perrine and her husband, Don, Wendell Clement, David Clement, Pamela Smith and her husband, Walter, Carol Dudley and her husband, David, Roger Clement, Gerald Clement, Bernard Clement and his wife, Tanda, Michael Clement and his wife, Ruth, and Brenda Coombs and her husband, Carl; his close friend, David Beane; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and two great greatgrandchildren.\r\n\r\nA graveside committal service with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 20 at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Rd., Augusta, ME.\r\n\r\nAn online guestbook may be signed and memories shared at www.lawrybrothers.com\r\n\r\nArrangements are by Lawry Brothers Funeral and Cremation Care, 107 Main St., Fairfield, ME.
