Waterville, Maine-Florence F. Barstow, 86, of Waterville, Maine, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014, at Oak Grove Center in Waterville, Maine. She was born in Benton, Maine on September 4, 1927, the daughter of the late George and Winifred (Gilman) Stevens. She attended Benton schools, and graduated from Lawrence High School in Fairfield, Maine. She graduated from the University of Maine Farmington, with a degree in Speech Therapy. Florence worked as a beautician, and later as a speech therapist in area schools. After retirement she was a live in caretaker for the disable until her Parkinson’s forced her to stop. Florence liked to hike, garden, pick fiddleheads in the spring, and spend time with her sisters. She was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey; and a daughter, Paulette; and several siblings. She is survived by a daughter, Paula Hill and her husband Bruce of Newport, Maine; sons, Timothy Barstow and his wife Gayle of Hollis, Maine, and Brent Barstow of Lisbon, Maine; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Oak Grove Center, and hospice for their care. There will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 29, at 1 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery on Maple Street in Fairfield, Maine.
