Fairfield-Floriene Cecile (Goodridge) Nelson died peacefully at her home on Monday, October 23, 2017, with family by her side.\r\n\r\nShe was born on December 28, 1923, in Fairfield, the daughter of Clifton Levensailer and Doris L. Goodridge. \r\n\r\nFloriene attended North Grammar School, Lawrence Junior High and Senior High Schools. After school she worked for over 40 years as a weaver at the Cascade Woolen Mill in Vassalboro, Wyandotte Worsted Mill at the Head of Falls and West River Road in Waterville, until her retirement from the Cascade Woolen Mill in Oakland.\r\n\r\nFloriene enjoyed her word find books and crossword puzzles. She was an avid reader, flower gardener and music fan. She enjoyed and loved her pets; her dog “Chance” stayed by her side till the very end giving her great comfort. \r\n\r\nShe was predeceased by her parents; spouse John H. Nelson Sr. on October 16, 1996. Floriene still continued to go to Florida during the winters and enjoyed her time at camp during her Maine Summers with her family and friends.\r\n\r\nFloriene is survived by her children, daughter Dolores Jane (Zelenkewich) Schilt and husband Marvin H. Schilt of North Praire, Wisconsin, son John H. Nelson Jr. and wife June A. Nelson of Waterville, daughter Marlene L. (Nelson) Keep and husband Adrian Keep of Lauderhill, Florida, and son Timothy M. Nelson and wife Robin L. Nelson of Fairfield; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.\r\n\r\nThe family would like to thank Floriene’s PCP Dr. Edmund Ervin for his excellent care and service given to our mother and our thanks and much appreciation to all the caring, compassionate professionals from Maine General Homecare and Hospice during Floriene’s final journey.\r\n\r\nAt the family’s request, there will be no visiting hours or service. Burial will be held at a later date at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
