Belgrade, ME: Floyd George Case, 87, died Friday, May 8, 2015, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta, ME.\r\n\r\nHe was born in Waterville, ME on January 28, 1928, the son of Floyd R. and Nellie (Sabins) Case. Floyd graduated from Lawrence High School in Fairfield, ME in 1945, earned his degree in funeral service from the American Academy in New York City, and also attended Colby College.\r\n\r\nFloyd served in the US Navy during WWII. He then worked as a funeral director for John Farnham Funeral Home in Newport, ME. He was employed by the Maine Department of Transportation in 1951, and retired as Director of Traffic Operations in 1977. He then joined Tilcon Maine and retired in 1990, as Assistant to the President.\r\n\r\nFloyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, horse racing, and was an avid golfer. He spent many winters in Anna Maria Island, Florida.\r\n\r\nHe married Shirley Marie Holt in 1951, and she predeceased him in 1985.\r\n\r\nSurviving are 3 children, John P. Case of South Portland, ME, Bridget Case Holt of Cedar Rapids Iowa, and Peter F. Case from Malabar, Florida; a sister, Marion Case Snowman of Detroit; grandchildren, Aaron, Kristen, Michael, Adam, Jason, and Ryan; several great grandchildren; long time close friend, Nancy LaBonta of Waterville, ME; and several nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nA graveside service will be held 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 28 At the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta, ME. Following the service a reception will be held at the family home located at 60 Spaulding Point Road in North Belgrade, ME.
