1925-2014 FAIRFIELD, MAINE—Fred E. Rollins, 89, a longtime resident of Fairfield, Maine, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5, 2014, with his family by his side at Cedar Ridge Center in Skowhegan, Maine. He was born in Waterville, Maine on February 3, 1925, the son of the late Ernest and Blanche (Poulin) Rollins. Fred married the former Jean Rich and the couple raised three children and shared 57 wonderful years together until her passing in 2000. He was employed by Keyes Fibre Company at the Shawmut plant and retired as an oiler following many years of dedicated service. Fred was very active in the Masons. He was very proud to be a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He loved tending to his flower and vegetable gardens. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at camp on Oak Pond. He will be sadly missed by his children, Lawrence “Larry” Rollins and his wife, Margie of Limestone, Maine, Carolyn “Cindy” Works and her husband, Gordon of Benton, Maine, and Brenda “Bunny” McGowan and her husband, David of Waterville, Maine; seven grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staffs at Cedar Ridge Center and Beacon Hospice for the wonderful care Fred received. Per his request all services will be private.
