Waterville, ME - Gail Jean (Martin) Cole, 64, passed away after a short, but courageous fight against lung cancer on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at 1:45 p.m. She was surrounded by several of her loving family members. \r\n\r\nGail was born in Waterville, ME on May 11, 1951, the daughter of Leo and Dorothy (Moxcey) Martin. She attended schools in Waterville, ME, graduating from Waterville HS in 1969, with honors. She was a member of the National Honor Society. \r\n\r\nIn 1970, Gail married Clifton Colford and began working at Merrill Bank in Waterville, ME where she stayed until the birth of her daughter, Jennifer Buffy in 1971. She spent several years after as a stay-at-home mom. In 1982, Gail began working at Pleasant Hill Nursing Home in Fairfield, ME where she pursued and completed schooling to become at Certified Nurse’s Assistant. When Pleasant Hill closed in 2000, Gail began working for Oak Grove Nursing Home in Waterville, ME where she worked until she became ill in April of 2015. She always cherished the people she met while working in nursing either as coworkers or families of those she cared for. \r\n\r\nGail always enjoyed the time she would spend with her mother, Dorothy, shopping around Waterville, ME and doing the things they enjoyed together. She had great chats over coffee with her friend Karen (Colford) and always smiled big when talking of her friend Susie (Mick-Thurston). She loved a good strong cup of tea and antiques.\r\n\r\nGail was predeceased by her father, Leo Martin.\r\n\r\nGail is survived by her mother, Dorothy (Moxcey) Martin of Waterville, ME; her husband, Jim Cole of Fairfield, ME; her daughter, Jennifer Curtis-Witham and her husband, Wayne of Shawmut, ME, her grandchildren, Luke Witham, and Emily and Megan Curtis of Shawmut, ME; her brother, Michael Martin and his wife, Denise of Falmouth, ME; her nephew, Ryan Martin and his wife, Sara of Jersey City, NJ; her niece, Kelly Martin and her spouse, Linda of Seabrook, NH; her niece, Melissa Martin and her husband, Zack Punsky of Portland, ME; and her niece, Katie Martin of Portland, ME; and several other family members including those from the Norton and Luce families who she had several wonderful memories of from years gone by and friends she would not want to forget. \r\n\r\nThere will be a service at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 27 at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield, ME with Pastor Bill Lawrence officiating. A Potluck Gathering will take place following the service at the residence of Dorothy Martin. \r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family has set up a fund in Gail’s name to help pay funeral and burial expenses.
