DIXMONT, ME--Gladys Thay Ward Peabody, 98, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 18, 2018.\r\n\r\nShe was born September 3, 1919, in Pittsfield, Maine, daughter of the late Lincoln and Annie (Dagget) Ward. Gladys married Mellie Peabody on April 7, 1935, and lived on their farm in Thorndike, Maine where they raised their eight children. Mellie and Gladys celebrated 49 years together until his death on September 30, 1984.\r\n\r\nGladys lived a full life and enjoyed many hobbies. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, putting puzzles together and an afternoon dose of General Hospital each day. She enjoyed her Bible study and loved going to church. Gladys looked forward to going to TOPS (Take off pounds sensibly) meetings, accomplishing her weight loss goals and was a contributing member serving as the chapter Sunshine Lady. She also enjoyed the fellowship of Clinton Senior Citizens group where she had many friends. Gladys spent the majority of her life loving her role of being a wife, mother and homemaker. She especially enjoyed her many grandchildren.\r\n\r\nGladys is survived by her four sons, Richard Peabody and wife Jessica of Dixmont, ME, Raymond Peabody and wife Priscilla of Thorndike, ME, Maurice Peabody of Dixmont, ME, and Robert Peabody and wife Ginny of Thorndike, ME; and her two daughters, Elizabeth Giles and husband Keith of Clinton, ME and Ginger Fairley and husband Cecil of Burnham, ME. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, and many great and great greatgrandchildren.\r\n\r\nGladys was predeceased by her late husband, Mellie Peabody; her sons, Frederick Peabody of Thorndike, ME, and Frankie Peabody of Thorndike, ME; her brother, Vernard Ward of Thorndike, ME; and three grandchildren. \r\n\r\nFuneral Services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at East Dixmont Community Church, 34 Church Hill Road, Dixmont, ME with Pastor Tim Boone officiating.
