SOMERVILLE, MAINE—Gloria (French) Hill, 80, passed away peacefully at Glenridge Nursing Home in Augusta, Maine on Friday, December 7, 2012. Before moving to Glenridge, she lived in the home where she was born and raised in Somerville, Maine. All of the people at Glenridge welcomed Gloria and made her feel at home. Before long she considered the nursing home her home. Gloria was employed by Lipman’s Poultry for many years until retirement. She made many friends during her employment there. She enjoyed mowing her lawn, doing puzzles and word search books, sewing, crocheting, spending many hours on her porch, and spending time with her family. Gloria was predeceased by her husband, William Hill; her son, Kenneth Wood; her parents, Kenneth and Elizabeth French; and her two brothers, Lloyd and Paul French. She is survived by her sister, Mary Fergerson; her two step-daughters, Crystal Magee of Texas and Shelby Brown and her family of North Dakota; her granddaughter, Erica Wentworth; her two great grandchildren, Kayla Wood and William Cox; her sister-in-law, Evelyn French; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews. Those who knew Gloria well would say she was a very kind, loving, caring and strong willed lady that will be greatly missed. Special thanks to Nancy Brown of Somerville, Maine for all of her help. A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 13 at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home-Gray Chapel. 207 Windsor Neck Rd., Windsor, Maine. Burial will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery, Somerville, Maine.
