FAIRFIELD, ME--Her spirit entered this world on February 22, 1921, at the Sisters Hospital in Waterville, ME as the daughter of Alice (Hunter) and Herman Brooks (Rousseau). She was raised in the town of Fairfield, ME and received her early education at the Immaculate Heart of Mary parochial school. She later attended Lawrence High School where she participated in various activities, and especially enjoyed the sport of basketball. Here she met Frederick, the love of her life. After graduating, Fred and Harriet continued dating and formed a strong partnership that prepared them for Fred's later duty in the armed forces. While away, the many letters exchanged helped them through the days and nights until his long anticipated return. They married in July, 1946, and began their life together. Harriet worked briefly as a secretary to Dr. W. L. Gousse, M.D. after which she became a homemaker and mother of two sons. Fred and Harriet were active members of the church and also enjoyed bowling, square dancing, camping, and many weekend trips with their boys to favorite places. After Fred's retirement they moved to Sidney, enjoying their home there until his passing in 2003. Harriet then moved to Goudreau's Retirement Inn until 2010, and then to Lakewood Continuing Care Center where she remained until her spirit left this world on February 12, 2015, just shy of her 94th birthday. She is survived by her son, Frederick Jr. and his wife, Susan of Lakeland Florida; her son, Paul and his wife, Shannon of Benton, ME; her grandchildren, Justin of Clarksburg, Maryland, Andrew of Benton, ME, and granddaughter, Erin of Oakland, ME; and her great grandchildren, Analyse of Oakland, and Mathias of Verdun, Canada. We appreciate so much the loving care that Harriet received at Lakewood Continuing Care Center that made her stay such a pleasant one. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Notre Dame Church in Waterville, ME on Saturday, February 28 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow (location to be announced). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lakewood Continuing Car Center, Moonlight Bay Camping Trip, 220 Kennedy Memorial Dr., Waterville, ME 04901, which Harriet enjoyed so much.
