WATERVILLE - Helen A. Alexander, 96, formerly of Sidney, went to be with her Lord and Savior, as she passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at Mount Saint Joseph in Waterville. She was born in Unity on August 28, 1921, the daughter of the late William and Mamie (Murch) Gerald.\r\n\r\nHelen graduated from Unity High School, class of 1939. On Sept. 3, 1939, she married Arthur A. Alexander and the couple shared many wonderful years together until his passing on March 21, 2001.\r\n\r\nHelen was a homemaker when her family was young. She later was employed as a foreman for Constable's Hatchery. Following her retirement, Helen cared for veterans in her home for 15 years.\r\n\r\nShe enjoyed gardening, sewing, and family gatherings. Her family was very important to her. \r\nBesides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Arthur Alexander Jr.; her sisters, Thelma Cornforth, Evelyn Webb, Pearl Smith, Mildred Crosby, and Doris Hall; and her great-grandson, Michael Myrick.\r\n\r\nHelen will be sadly missed by her son Lynwood Alexander and his wife Marie of Fairfield, her daughters Judith Trundy and her husband Gerald of Unity, and Brenda Drew and her husband Roger of Unity; her grandchildren, Scott Myrick and his wife Celine, Tami Paquet and her husband Gene, Todd Myrick and his wife Maryann, Chris Alexander and his wife, Wendy, Craig Alexander and his wife Laurie, Paul Alexander, Roger Drew III and his wife Jodie, Sonya Merrifield and her husband Gary, Kimberly Drew, Richard Alexander and his wife Tammie, James Alexander and his companion Mindy, and Casey Jo Elgaen and her husband Josh; 21 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.\r\nThe family would like to thank the staff at Mount Saint Joseph and Beacon Hospice for their care and compassion.\r\n\r\nGraveside services will be held in the spring at Pond Cemetery in Unity.
