WATERVILLE, MAINE—Helen Charlotte (Loucks) Dubois, of Waterville, Maine passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville, Maine. She was born in Oakland, Maine on March 19, 1934, the daughter of William and Doris (Lewis) Loucks. Helen retired from the Waterville School System in 1999. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed knitting, ice skating, roller skating, cross country skiing, walking, kayaking, and was an animal lover. As Helen's children became involved in athletics she would read every book published about that sport so she could be an informed fan. Our mom attended all of our athletic contests and could always be heard cheering loudly for both teams. To her it was never about winning or losing, but always about doing your best. The obnoxious fan was always in for a tongue lashing if a negative word came out of their mouths and our mother heard it. Our mother's love of athletics carried over to her attending her grandchildren's athletic contest as well as plays, concerts, and whatever else they were involved in. Supporting her family was never seen as an obligation but to her a pleasure and a joy. She was predeceased by her parents whom both passed away in 1987; her husband, Joseph H. Dubois Sr. on July 16, 1993; and her grandson, Michael D. Bourgoin on February 29, 2000. Helen will be sadly missed by her children, Rosalyn Carter and her husband, David, William “Billy” Dubois, Denise Bourgoin and her husband, David “Beau”, Joseph H. Dubois Jr. and his wife, Patti, and Michelle Dubois; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria Luce and Charlotte Tardiff; and two brothers, Leon and Christopher Loucks. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 15 at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta, Maine with Pastor Bill Lawrence officiating.
