Benton-Ida M. Gibbon, 83, of Benton, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Cedar Ridge Center in Skowhegan with her family by her side. She was born in Grand Falls N. B. Canada on April 4, 1931, the daughter of the late Fred and Theresa (Albert) Genness. She married Everett Gibbons, and they had four daughters. She was employed by the Augusta Mental Health Institute for 19 years as a nurse’s aide, and later as a medication technician. She was a 2014 recipient of the Remember ME award, giving to resident’s for their personal story and how it is significant or how the resident has overcome adversity. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with her family. She was predeceased by three brothers, a sister; and five great grandchildren. She is survived by her four daughters, Sandi Leighton and her husband Paul of Oakland, and their children, Michael, Troy, and Derek, Judy Labonte and her husband Larry of Pittston, and their children Liesha, Joe, Rob, John, Michael, and Brandi, Nancy Rankins and her husband Ray of Randolf, and their children Kylee and KC, and Jill Webber and her husband Brent of Benton, and their children Christopher and Nicki; and many great grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters; and nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 13, at 10 am at Saint Francis Cemetery in Waterville.
