WINSLOW, MAINE--Irene Huard, 95, went to the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 24, 2013. She was born April 14, 1917, in Fairfield Center, Maine, one of 13 children. Her mother died when she was 9 years old and at 14 years of age she was working for room and board at the Appleton Inn in Waterville, Maine. She graduated from Waterville High School. She married Omer Huard and they were together for 63 years until he passed away in 2007. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Gayle McDonald and husband John, and Glenna Bartlett and husband Larry; grandchildren, Ryan Rodrique, Miah Marquis, Kim Austin, and Melissa Pease; great grandchildren, Jazmin Rodrique, Jaxson Marquis, Monica Pallotta and Sienna Mott; two special nieces, Jane Patry and Theresa Lemieux; and her brother, Romeo Ouellette. Irene worked for 25 years at the Hathaway Shirt Company. For over 60 years she shared a special friendship with Dot Audet, Roseanne Boutin, and Fern Arsenault who would play cards together each week. She was such a generous person her entire life. If there was a person she knew that needed assistance of any kind, she would always be there lending her support. Her passion in life was the Lord and she shared His love through her many acts of kindness. She had a servant’s heart and always put others ahead of herself. After her husband died, she went to live at Sunset Home where she spent 5 wonderful years. The entire staff and residents were such a blessing and she would often say she was so grateful to be able to stay in such a great home. The family thanks all that made those years so special to her. She loved to sit in the swing on the front porch and watch the cars go by. The last few months of her life were at Country Manor in Coopers Mills, Maine and the family extends our heartfelt gratitude to them and the Hospice staff that cared and showed kindness toward her. We were all so blessed to have been part of her life. Her example of unselfishness, generosity and compassion are lasting gifts she shared. A memorial service will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Resurrection Life Church P. O. Box 2635, Waterville, ME 04901.
