WINSLOW, MAINE--Jean Elizabeth Getchell Daly, "Gram", passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012, following a short illness. Born in Waterville, Maine to Eldred Getchell and Rachel (Pierce) Getchell on July 18, 1927, she was the younger of two daughters. For many years she lived in the Fairfield, Maine area and was educated in the Fairfield School system. Jean's interests were knitting, sewing, her family and friends, and especially her grandchildren from coast to coast. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Anna Holmes; and her son, James Jeffrey Poulin. Survivors include her daughters, Sheila and Roxanne; her sons, Lawrence, Peter, Brian, and Gregory; her grandchildren, Christopher, Orion, Hannah, Sheila-Jean, Peter, Brianna, Matthew, Roxanne, Tamara, Jeffrey, Elizabeth, Jessica, Amber, Andrew, and Brooke; 17 great grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 4 at 1 p.m. at the HOME CO-OP Chapel in Bucksport, Maine. A gathering for family and friends will be held in Waterville, Maine at 3 Bowie Lane at 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 3. The family would like to thank Dr. Clifton Smith, nurses and staff at Maine General Medical Center during her stay, Delta Ambulance & Rescue services, and Gina of the Winslow Police Department for their care, kindness and understanding during Jean's difficult times.
