Joan R. Cox, 86, died peacefully on Thursday, August 25, 2011, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She was born in Waterville on September 1, 1924, the daughter of the late Francis Xavier and Marie (Maheu) Lebrasseur. She worked as a hostess for many restaurants in the Waterville area for many years. She also worked at the Lecerne Inn in Dedham. The last four years of her life she spent with her daughter, Debbie and son-in-law Michael. She loved spending time with her family, and loved games of chance, and playing cards. She was a fun loving mom, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She also had so much strength and endurance. She was predeceased by her husband Evan R. Cox; five brothers Joseph, John, Babe, Charles, and Arthur Lebrasseur; and seven sisters Eleanor Morency, Marion Roy, Josephine Laflamme, Madora Savasuk, Evangeline Bessey, Lucille Gilman, and Virginia Dostie. She is survived by her three children Sandra Suttie and her husband Gerald of Fairfield, Nimer George and his wife Pam of Liverpool, Nova Scotia, and Deborah Roy and her husband Michael of Portsmouth, N.H.; her niece Jackie who was like her best friend and thought of as a younger sister; seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; and several nieces, and nephews. A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Bangor, Maine.
