John (Jack) Beatson Jr., passed away October 27, 2016. \r\n\r\nHe was born June 21, 1928, in New York City to parents John and Grace Bissell Beatson. Jack received his early education at Bishop’s College School in Lennoxville, Canada, before going to Scarsdale school’s in New York. He enlisted in the Army from 1946-1948, serving in the Army of Occupation in Italy. Upon his return, he enrolled in Colby College, graduating in 1952. He married Dawn Russell, from Winslow, ME, in the summer of ’52 and they moved to San Francisco to start a family and his career in insurance.\r\n\r\nFour years later they moved their small family back to Scarsdale, NY; where Jack continued his insurance career as the owner of E.M. West Inc. in White Plains until retirement in 1987. He and his wife, then moved to Palm City, FL where he continued to enjoy gardening, wood working crafts, and variety of other artistic projects. Jack enjoyed spending his summers with family and friends in Oakland, ME, where he bought an old sprawling cottage with longtime friend Bob Kulason. The cottage soon came to be known as Kool-Bee. \r\n\r\nJack is survived by his wife, Dawn Russell Beatson; his children, Mary Richardson, John Beatson III, Douglas Beatson, and Braden Beatson; son-in-law Brian Richardson; four grandchildren, Ian Richardson, Sarah Shannon, Christine Pitcher, and Carlee Beatson; five great grandchildren, Keagan and Olivia Pitcher, Isaac, Kaitlyn, and Leah Shannon; brother-in-law’s, Wendell Russell and wife Sandra, and Carl Hamlin. No funeral services will be held at this time. John will be buried at a later date in Maitland, Canada with his mother, father, and sister.
