Winslow, Maine-John L. Harrison, 66, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 after a battle with sarcoidosis and pulmonary fibrosis. \r\n\r\nJohn was born in Waterville, Maine on January 2, 1950 and was the son of Augustus and Theresa (Costello) Harrison. He attended Fairfield schools.\r\n\r\nJohn was a well-known food salesman in the Central Maine area for several years and worked for businesses that include Jordan's Meats, Maine Sysco Foods, Carl Smith Foods, and most recently Dennis Paper Company. \r\n\r\nJohn was an avid sports enthusiast and his favorite teams were the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Some of his hobbies were cribbage, playing cards with family, fishing, boating, and cooking and barbecuing. John also loved to walk and spend time with his daughter Wendy's dogs, Lola and Lucy. For many years, he enjoyed many summers at his family's camp on Unity Pond in Burnham. \r\n\r\nJohn also enjoyed vacationing with his mother in the spring to Naples, Florida to visit his daughter Stacy and family; and in the summer to Lake George, NY to visit his other daughter Johnna and family. John's pride and joy was his grandson, Dylan Hapworth. He spent many days practicing football, baseball, and basketball to help Dylan get as good as he could get. He never missed a game and was Dylan's biggest fan. John was a very proud Papa and loved his family. \r\n\r\nHe was predeceased by his father, Augustus (Gus) Harrison.\r\n\r\nJohn is survived by his mother, Theresa Harrison of Benton; his sister Brenda and her husband Roger Rich of Fairfield, Maine; his brothers, Michael of Winslow, Maine, Steven and his wife Jennifer of Albion, Maine, and Gregory and his wife Arlene of Albion, Maine; his three daughters, Wendy and her husband Kevin Hapworth of Winslow, Maine, Stacy and her husband Michael Nourse Jr. of Naples, Florida, and Johnna and her husband Paul Bricoccoli Jr of Queensbury, New York; seven grandchildren, Dylan Hapworth of Winslow, Maine, Patrick Hapworth of Pittsfield, Maine, Sofie and Livia Bricoccoli of Queensbury, NY, and Savannah, Ashley, and Madison Nourse all of Naples, Florida. \r\n\r\nThe family would like to thank all the girls in the kitchen at Goudreau's for providing great meals to John. Also to Eva Turner of Winslow, Maine for her wonderful care of John towards the end of his life. A special thanks to Maine General Homecare and Hospice. All your care and support was greatly appreciated. \r\n\r\nVisiting hours will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 10-11 a.m. at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main Street, Fairfield, Maine.
