Newburgh, Maine-John B. Tivnan, 85, of Newburgh, Maine, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at the Veterans Administration Healthcare System at Togus. He was born in Montville, Maine on January 16, 1926, the son of the late Walter V. Tivnan and Harriet (Boynton) Tivnan Jackson. On April 6, 1944, he entered the United States Army and served during World War Two. He was a Prisoner of War, a recipient of the Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars. He was honorably discharged on November 29, 1945. He was predeceased by his son Irvine Terrance Tivnan. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Regis B. Tivnan; three sons, John D. Tivnan and his companion Cora of Fort Fairfield, Maine, David A. Tivnan and his wife Mary of New Bern, North Carolina, and Bernard B. Tivnan of Bunnell, Florida; five step children Edward Phillips and his wife Beverly of Monmouth, Maine, James Phillips of Blaine, Maine, Thomas Phillips and his wife Pamela of Riverview, Florida, Michael Phillips and his wife Pricilla of Westfield, Maine, and Rachel Forget and her husband Adrien of Old Town, Maine; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A private burial will be held at Brookside Cemetery in Newburgh, Maine.
