Benton, ME- Josie Holt, 95, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015. She was one of nine children born to John and Frances (Szufnaroski) Sitnik. Josie was born on November 16, 1919, in Benton.\r\n\r\nJosie attended Benton schools, and graduated from Lawrence High School.\r\n\r\nShe was married to the late Sumner B. Holt for 54 ½ years, until his death in December 2000. They had one daughter. \r\n\r\nShe worked for LaVerdiere’s Drug Store in Fairfield, ME for 24 years and American Greeting Cards for 6 years, until retiring due to ill health. She was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. \r\n\r\nJosie’s pastime was baking and watching over her family, which was her life. \r\n\r\nShe was predeceased by her parents; husband; and 7 siblings. \r\n\r\nShe is survived by her daughter, Brenda and her partner, Robert; her grandchildren, Robin and wife Jocelyn, Angie, and Eric and wife Lynda; her great-grandchildren, Zachary, Taylor Lee and Austin Sumner; her great-great-grandson, Raylan Tagert; her sister, Joan Marshall and her husband, Paul; nieces and nephews; and also her dear friends, Robert Bergeron, Preston Foster, George Harding, and Linda O'Neal, who made it possible for her to live at home longer.\r\n\r\nGraveside services will be private.\r\n\r\nThe family would like to thank the staff at Woodlands for the care and love they gave Josie during her short stay there.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, donations in Josie’s memory may be made to the Humane Society Waterville Area, 100 Webb Road, Waterville, ME 04901.
