CHINA, MAINE—Lamont “Sam” J. Nutt, 86, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 21, 2012, at MaineGeneral Medical Center-Thayer Campus, Waterville, Maine. He was born in Shawmut, Maine on August 26, 1925, the son of the late Lamont J. and Ethel (Whitten) Nutt. Sam attended Lawrence High School in Fairfield, Maine. He was employed for 30 years by Keyes Fibre Company. Sam was a Masonic member of Central Lodge #45 A.F & A.M. in China, Maine. For 25 years he enjoyed going on horse buying trips with Creighton Hemphill. For over 20 years he owned show horses and traveled with his daughter, Pamela, who would show them. Sam enjoyed waterskiing, boating, fishing, and simply being at their camp. He and his wife, Patricia, recently celebrated 60 years of marriage with the entire family and many friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his five sisters, Victoria, Alice, Nora, Frances, and Doris; and his five brothers, Ralph, Harry, George, Philip, and Walter. Sam will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Patricia (Cayouette) Nutt; his daughter, Pamela Ehler and her companion, Debra Bickford of China, Maine; his sons, Jeffrey Nutt and his wife, Linda of Vassalboro, Maine, Russell Nutt and his wife, Jennifer of Waterville, Maine, and Patrick Nutt of Waterville, Maine; two grandchildren, Allen Nutt and his companion, Jacksie Pepin, and Jonathan Nutt and his fiancé, Heather Quimby; two great grandchildren, Lucas and Rhianna Nutt; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank HealthReach Hospice and the staff in the emergency room at MaineGeneral Medical Center-Thayer Campus for the care Sam received. A spreading of the ashes ceremony will be performed at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 10 at the Nutt Farm, 583 Pleasant View Ridge Rd., China, Maine. All are welcomed to attend.
