Leon E. Rhodes Obituary (1934 - 2019)

Brewer, ME – Leon E. Rhodes, 84, passed away on July 20, 2019. Leon was born on October 31, 1934, in So. Liberty, ME to the late Donald and Zelma Rhodes. He attended the one room schoolhouse in So. Liberty through 8th grade, then Leon went on to graduate from Walker High School in Liberty, ME, class of 1952. Following graduation Leon joined the Army and served in Germany during his years of service. He grew very fond of Germany during those years. After his time in the military Leon worked different jobs until an accident rendered him disabled. After his accident Leon resided at many different places including with his sister Sandra and his brother David. Leon moved to Brewer Rehabilitation Facility and had resided there many years until his passing. Leon was predeceased by his parents; sister Elaine Keniston; brother David Rhodes; brother-in-law Steve Jewett; and nephew Matthew Jewett all of Liberty, ME. Leon is survived by his three sisters Janice Jewett of Liberty, ME, Sandra Paradis and her husband Paul, and Shari Ireland and her husband Doug all of W. Enfield, ME; two brothers Gary Rhodes and his wife Hrachik of Thousand Oaks, CA and Mark Rhodes and his wife Kathy of Liberty, ME; sister-in-law Ruth Rhodes of Liberty, ME; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 25th, at 11 a.m. at the South Liberty Baptist Church, 2895 Burkettville Rd., Liberty, ME 04949.
