Albion, Maine-Louise I. Higgins, 91, passed away Friday, Aug 7, 2015, at Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, Florida.\r\n\r\nLouise was born in Vassalboro, Maine on January 8, 1924, the daughter of the late Sadie Turner McFarland and Benson McFarland. She attended and graduated from Freedom Academy.\r\n\r\nShe was employed for many years as a cook at the Albion Elementary School in Albion, Maine.\r\nShe enjoyed fishing, knitting and crocheting table cloths, afghans, and thousands of towels that she would sell for less than she paid for the material just to see people smile. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.\r\n\r\nShe was predeceased by a brother Benson McFarland; a sister Helen Pottle; and her Husband of 47 years Roy L. Higgins.\r\n\r\nShe is survived by a brother Paul McFarland and his wife Pearl of Albion; a daughter Gloria Gomm and her Husband Carl of Florida; her sons Roy L. Higgins and wife Linda of Naples, Florida, Basil E. Higgins and wife Elaine of Freedom, ME, and Lawrence G. Higgins and wife Penny of Fairfield, ME. She has 15 grandchildren, Andrea, Butch, Matt, Sherry, David, Laurie, Julie, Tess, Monica, Brian, Kathy, Sam, Nicole, Kevin, Jenn; and many great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren whom she loved dearly; and many nieces, and nephews.\r\n\r\nVisiting hours will be held from 10 a.m. to noon with service at noon on Thursday August 13, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main Street, Fairfield, Maine, with Pastor Steve Donahue officiating. A graveside service will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Albion, Maine. Friends and family will be gathering after at the home of Basil and Elaine Higgins in Freedom.\r\n\r\nDonations may be made to Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice, 27200 Imperial Parkway, Bonita Springs, Fl. 34135.
