Smithfield – Marie Edna (Peterson) Dudley, 81, with family by her side while at Woodlands Assisted Living, went to her heavenly home to be reunited with the love of her life for 55 years, Raymond L. Dudley, Sr., on Thursday, August 24, 2017.\r\n\r\nMarie was born in Norridgewock on August 17, 1936, the daughter of Dorrin R. Peterson and Esther (Rogers) Peterson. She attended Bloomfield Academy and graduated in 1954.\r\n\r\nShe retired from the State of Maine as a Title Clerk, and also worked at Norrwock Shoe, at Maplecrest Nursing Home, self-employed as Marie’s Knit and Sew In and was also as a very busy at-home mother. Marie was a longtime member of the Smithfield Baptist Church, an active member of the Fairview Grange, VFW Women’s Auxiliary, Christmas Club, a Girl Scout leader and was a founding member of the “Silly Women’s Club.” Her greatest accomplishment was raising her five children… one to perfection!\r\n\r\nMarie’s hobbies included baking, canning, pickling, going to yard-sales, bowling, card playing, knitting, sewing, crocheting, quilting, fishing, gardening and hosting large family events. She found great enjoyment in spending time with her children and grandchildren.\r\n\r\nShe was predeceased by her parents; her husband Raymond; and her sister Eunice Cullington.\r\n\r\nMarie is survived by children, Raymond Dudley, Jr. and wife Kat of Gwynn Oak, MD., Laura Paquet and husband Greg of Smithfield, William Dudley and wife Zenova of Granville, NY., Mary Veilleux and husband Larry of Waterville, and Paul Dudley and girlfriend Tasha of Smithfield; her 19 grandchildren; her many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and her sisters Beryl Robinson of Dixfield and Esther Lewis and husband Rick of St. Louis, MO.\r\n\r\nSpecial thanks to Harold Alfond Cancer Center for Care, Dr. Julia Moukharskaya, Dr. Robert Dohner, MaineGeneral Hospice, and Heather Lint. \r\n\r\nA memorial funeral service will take place at the Smithfield Baptist Church, 25 Lakeview Drive, Smithfield, at 2 P.M. on Saturday, September 2, with burial to follow at Gould Cemetery in Smithfield.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fairview Grange.
