ALBION, MAINE--Maxine Beverly Studley Rideout passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2014, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She leaves behind her loving husband and caregiver, Norman; and their two daughters, Sharon Nadeau of East Benton, Maine and her husband, Norman, and Linda Brouillette of Vero Beach, Florida and her husband, Don; her four grandchildren, Scott Higgins of Winslow, Maine, Dawn Anne Currie of Cypress, Texas, Erin Nickerson of Rochester, New Hampshire and Tim Brouillette of St. Petersburg, Florida; and her great grandchildren, Frannie Higgins, Kiera and Kody Currie and Briana and Mikaela Nickerson. Maxine worked at the Albion Elementary School for 24 years, first as kitchen help and then as school secretary. After retirement, she supported Norman in the Rideout's Tree Farm where she made wreaths and crafts, fed the crew, and baked molasses cookies for every child who came to get their Christmas tree. Maxine loved to travel and through the years she and Norman enjoyed trips to Alaska, the Canadian Rockies, Branson, Austria, Germany, the Canadian Maritimes, and cruises to the Caribbean. They enjoyed many wonderful camping trips with the Kennebec River Rovers and made some very special friends in the group. The family would especially like to thank those who visited Maxine, prayed for her and brought in food. A special thanks to hospice personnel whose knowledge, respect and compassion made her final days more comfortable. Visiting hours will be held at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main Street in Fairfield, Maine on Thursday, October 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will also be at Lawry Brothers on Friday, October 17 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Maplegrove Cemetery in Albion, Maine.
