Benton, Maine-Nancy H. Dow, 87, of Benton, Maine, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Cedar Ridge Center in Skowhegan, Maine. She was born in Bath, Maine on August 5, 1926, the daughter of the late Hebert W. and Doris E. (Merrill) McKenney. She married Carl E. Dow on June 29, 1963, and together shared many happy years. He passed away on February 15, 1988. In her early years, she was employed by the Ski-land Woolen Mill in Clinton, Maine as a winder, and later was a housewife when she helped raise her godson Scott Horne and his siblings Lucretia, Michelle, and Lori. She remained a huge part of their lives. She also stayed close to their mother Stephanie Danforth and her husband Ted Danforth right up until their deaths. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, going to church, and spending time with her family, and church family. Everyone loved Aunt Nancy. She is survived by a godson Scott Horne and his wife Kathy and their children Kenneth Violette and Dawn Chase; four nieces Linda Jerolmon and husband Richard and their children, Nancy Fernald and her children, Ann Beebee and her children, and Donna St. Peter and her husband Jeff and their children; and a nephew Darrell Dow and his wife Cathy and their children; and a sister Alice Dill; and several other nieces, and nephews, a specialfriend Pauline; and her friends from the church. A visiting hour will be held on Friday, April 25, at The Riverside Assembly, 32 Water Street, Fairfield, Maine, from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. service, with the Rev. Nancy Pais officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta, Maine.
