Paul E. Pelletier Sr. Obituary (1937 - 2012)

CANAAN, MAINE--Paul E. Pelletier, Sr., at the age of 75, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 2, 2012, after a very short stay at Mt. St. Joseph Nursing Home, with his eldest daughter, and granddaughter at his bedside. He was born in Eagle Lake, Maine on January 6, 1937, one of Phydime and Nathalie Pelletier’s 13 children. Paul was educated in Eagle Lake, Fort Kent, and also attended college at Madawaska Training School for 2 ½ years. He married Velma (Deshaine) Pelletier on July 3, 1960. He worked various jobs in his lifetime. He retired from Scott Paper Co. in Winslow, Maine after 26 years of loyal employment. After retiring from Scott Paper, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning his own convenience store, and opened the Hill Road Market in Canaan, Maine. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Bertha; his brothers, Roland, Norman, Fred, and Phydime, Jr.; and the mother of their children. He is survived by his 5 children, Vera Grenier of Fairfield, Maine, Mae Pelletier of Connecticut, Roland Pelletier of Connecticut, Karen Pelletier of Fairfield, Maine, and Paul Pelletier, Jr. and his wife, Michelle of Shawmut, Maine; his two brothers, Patrick and his wife, Betty of Connecticut, and Jay Pelletier and his wife, Kathy of Connecticut; his sisters, Theresa Soucy of Eagle Lake, Maine, Norma and her husband, Allen Blanchette of New York, Margaret and her husband, Adrian Castonguay of Connecticut, Bernadette and her husband, Elmer Levesque of Connecticut, and Lucille Morin of Connecticut; 6 grandchildren, Jessica Grenier of Canaan, Maine, Sarah Grenier of Waterville, Maine, Josh and Mat Yopp of Connecticut, and Brandon and Paige Pelletier of Shawmut, Maine; and one great-granddaughter, Lucy Janes. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Frieda Pelletier of Eagle Lake, Maine, Doris Pelletier of Fort Kent, Maine, and Cyndi Pelletier of Connecticut; a couple special friends, Mike Perry and his wife, Pat of Canaan, Maine, and Jimmy Jackson and his wife, Lisa of Clinton, Maine; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mt. St. Joseph Nursing Home in Waterville, Maine, Dr. Ben Brown, and the nurses, and nurses’ aides on 2 Central at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville, Maine for making Paul’s last days peaceful, and comfortable. We would also like to thank Dr. David Preston and his nurse Debbie Hutchins for over 20 years of dedicated care to Paul. Visiting hours will be held at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield, Maine on Monday, March 5 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 6 at 11a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 116 Silver St., Waterville, Maine. A reception will follow at the church. Burial will be in the spring at Maplewood Cemetery in Fairfield, Maine.
