BENTON, MAINE—Raymond E. Greenwood, 68, of the Unity Rd. in Benton, Maine passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, June 23, 2012. He was born in Benton, Maine on March 26, 1944, the son of the late Thomas and Eva (Whitcomb) Greenwood. Raymond was raised and lived in Benton, Maine all of his life and attended local schools. He was employed by Ace Tire Company in Waterville, Maine in his younger years. He also worked as a taxi driver in the Waterville area. Raymond enjoyed collecting other people's throw-a-ways. He saw value in it, and if he made a few bucks he was happy. He also enjoyed the simple things in life, especially with a bottle of Pepsi in hand. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his stepmother, Dorothy; and his sister, Brenda. Raymond is survived by his two brothers, Ronald Greenwood and his wife, Bonnie of Palmyra, Maine, and Roger Greenwood and his wife, Brenda of Fairfield Center, Maine; two nephews, Tom Greenwood of Waterville, Maine, and Ryan Greenwood and his fiancée, Cara Hemphill of Fairfield Center, Maine; two nieces, Amanda Greenwood and her fiancée, Aaron Chapman of Winslow, Maine, and Ericka Roy and her husband, Chad of Vassalboro, Maine, one great nephew, Jason Boyer of Palmyra, Maine; several aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Belfast, Maine area; and by his friends, Bruce Pomerleau, and Barbara Dow who cooked plenty of meals for Raymond. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29 at Paul Cemetery in Waldo, Maine.
