WATERVILLE, MAINE—Rena M. Ronco, 77, died peacefully at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home on Saturday, October 5, 2013, after a brief illness, with her family by her side. Rena was born in East Benton, Maine on November 4, 1935, the daughter of Georgianna and Howard Bacon. Rena grew up in East Benton and attended the Fairfield, Maine school system. On April 12, 1957, Rena married Lawrence Ronco. Rena’s last employment was at Timberland Shoe in Stratton, New Hampshire, as an assistant purchasing agent. Rena’s activities included camping, canoeing, boating, 4 wheeling, sailing, skiing, and snowmobiling. She liked to listen to music and sing along. Rena was noted for her best apple pie and baked beans. Rena enjoyed taking coastal trips, especially to Belfast, Maine where she and her husband spent several years raising their family. She also enjoyed taking rides to Bingham, Maine for the country views and the woods. She was predeceased by her parents; and her step-brother, Henry Longley. Rena is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Lawrence Ronco of Rome, Maine; her two sons, Steve and his wife, Joyce, and their son, Sebastian, all of San Antonio, Texas, and Michael and his wife, Thelma, and their daughter, Ashley, of Chula Vista, California; her sister, Pauline Hatch and her husband, Bill, of Spring Hill, Florida; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Nicholas of Winslow, Maine; and her brothers-in-law, Ralph Ronco and his wife, Gerri of Sidney, Maine, and Carl Ronco and his wife, Roberta of Skowhegan, Maine. Her husband, Lawrence, was the love of her life and she always said he was “the perfect man.” The family would like to thank the caregivers at Mount St. Joseph for the wonderful care and compassion given to Rena during her illness. Committal services will be at a later date.
