Benton, Maine-Richard A. DeLisle (Blondie) 90 of Benton, Maine peacefully passed into heaven on April 16, 2014. Richard was in Naples, Florida, at the time of his passing. He had been ill most of the winter and spent much of his time there in a rehab center and then a Hospice Hospital. He was a strong man who never complained, and was loved by many. He led a full and fruitful life. Richard was born in Waterville, Maine on July 1, 1923, the son of the late Edgar E. and Olive M (Grondin) DeLisle. Richard married Cecile A. LeClair on July 2nd, 1943 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Waterville, Maine, the love of his life for 70 years. Together they had three daughters, Sandra, Diane and Rebecca. Richard graduated from Waterville High School in 1941. He later served in the US Army Air Force in World War II, where he served as an Administrative NCO; He received the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and the American Theater Campaign Ribbon. He was a member of the Bourque Lanigan American Legion post #5 in Waterville, Maine and served on the Budget Committee and on the Appeals Board in Benton, Maine for many years. Richard worked at Scott Paper Company in Winslow, Maine in the Paper Machine Dept. for 31 years, retiring at the age of 55. He also started his own broiler business and had a small farm where he raised cattle and grew corn that he sold at a roadside stand. His family will always be proud of his hard work and the ways he was dedicated to taking care of them. Richard was an avid golfer and bowler as well, receiving many trophies’ and awards. It was said that when he and his twin brother Russell showed up on the golf course the guys would say, “Oh, here come those DeLisle twins, we’re in trouble now. He also loved fishing, camping and hunting and spent much of his early years with his family and friends participating in these activities. Richard was predeceased by his twin brother Russell DeLisle of Waterville, Maine, and his older brother Jerome DeLisle of Winslow, Maine. He is survived by his loving wife Cecile DeLisle; his daughters Sandra Bucknam and husband Robert of Clinton, Maine, his daughter Diane DeLisle and her husband Marshall DeMott of Naples, FL., and his youngest daughter Rebecca DeLisle Owens of Clinton, Maine. He has five grandchildren, Richard Bucknam, Angela Buker, Jennifer Stevens, Jacob and Jevon Owens and several great grandchildren. There will be a service of honor of Richards’s life at Falls Cemetery later in the spring. Condolences can be sent to the family at 640 Hinckley Rd.
