CLINTON, ME - - Richard Joseph Poulin, 68, of Clinton Maine, passed away after a brief illness on September 28, 2014 with his children and his companion Linda Collinson by his side. Richard, also known as RJ, was born in Waterville Maine, on April 24, 1946. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1964 and married his high school sweetheart, Ellen. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. After active duty, he developed a lifelong commitment to those who serve by active participation in the local VFW’s and American Legions. RJ enjoyed traveling in his motor home with his beloved dog, Bridgett. For the past several years, RJ, Linda, and Bridgett would spend their winter months in Winter Haven Florida wither their close friends. Summers were spent with his large family enjoying BBQ’s and family gatherings filled with lots of laughter and good times. He also enjoyed spending time with Linda’s family in their camp on Branch Lake. Richard was predeceased by his parents and five siblings and sadly leaves five siblings behind. Richard is survived by his companion Linda Collinson. Ellen Moody, his former wife and lifelong friend. He is survived by three children: Joanne Costigan and her husband Kevin, of Fairfield Maine, Rick Poulin and his wife Tanya, of Benton Maine, and Melissa Moores and her husband Brian, of Sidney Maine, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. RJ is also survived by many special friends he met through all his travels. During RJ’s brief illness, his family was very thankful for the support of both Togus and West Roxbury Veteran’s hospitals. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that the donations be made to the Beals Hospitality House, which provides support for families of patients at the Togus Veteran’s Hospital. Visiting hours will begin at 1p.m. on Friday October 3, 2014 at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home in Fairfield Maine, with a Masonic service to directly follow. The funeral service will begin at 2p.m., then a military graveside service will be held at Saint Francis Cemetery in Waterville Maine. Friends and family are invited to attend a gathering in RJ’s honor after the graveside service to be held at the Fairfield VFW Post 6924.
