BENTON--Robert William Liberty, 20, of Benton, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, July 2, 2017. \r\n\r\nBorn on the 27th of December, 1996, in Augusta, Rob was an excellent son to his parents Kelly and Ron Liberty, also of Benton, because he was the kind of man that cared about others, and was always willing to lend a hand when anyone needed help; the kind of guy that would stand up for others and stand to give his seat to a lady on a train. \r\n\r\nThe town of Madison, provided a place where, as a boy, Rob could be found riding his bike all over town with frequent trips to the Irving for a milkshake, or to the Little Red Store, for candy. He played baseball, football, and rode his ATV over every inch of the neighbor’s lawn. The time that he spent in Madison was very positive for Rob due to the excellent families that helped shape him into the man that he became. \r\n\r\nRobbie’s High School years were filled with activities at Lawrence High School, where he played football and, as usual, his teammates became his brothers and many of them were brave enough to spend the night in the basement where Robbie was “kept”. \r\n\r\nEmployed by Ironworkers Union, Local 7, Rob had been previously employed at Cives Steel in Augusta. During high school, Robbie spent hundreds of hours lovingly caring for the cows on the Flood Brothers Farm. Robbie was very proud to be a “Maine Guy”. He loved Carhart clothing, “Chips” boots, his straight piped F-150, anything powered by gasoline, Kayla, and his Mom. He was rarely seen without his hat and at least some portion of his red beard. \r\n\r\nRob was predeceased by his grandfathers, Ron Liberty and Carl Cilley; and his aunt Gina Goding. \r\n\r\nIn addition to his parents, Rob is survived by his siblings, Reid Liberty and partner Jamie, Brooke Liberty and partner Amanda; a special niece, Cassidy Liberty; his grandparents; Bill and Diane Vasseur, Trena Cilley, and Rose Marie Liberty. \r\n\r\nHis uncles and aunts are, Matt and Carrie Vasseur, Scott and Melissa Ames, Randy and Jody Liberty, Ryan and Colleen Liberty, Rick and Nicole Liberty, Lou and Stephanie Garza, and Raquel Robinson. Rob had many cousins. Robbie leaves behind his better half, Kayla Paradis, and her parents Jim and Sandy, and her brother Kyle and his partner Sarah. \r\n\r\nThe will be a celebration and fund raiser at the Benton Family Fun Park from 4 p.m. until close, on Tuesday, 11 July. \r\n\r\nThe funds raised will be used to support a scholarship in Rob’s name. Ron and Kelly would like to thank the Waterville Police Dept. for their response to a difficult situation, the staff at Lawry Brothers for the care and exceptional support, Tim Martin for making things happen, and the Winslow Police Dept., especially Chief O’Leary and Lt. Veilleux.
