Benton- Retired MSGT. Robert L. Pooler, 75, of Benton, died September 2, 2017, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, surrounded by his family. \r\n\r\nHe was born January 29, 1942, to Leland G. Pooler and Dorothy E. Cayford Pooler, both deceased.\r\n\r\nBob retired from the U.S.A.F after 20 years of service and worked in Civil Service at Loring A.F. Base, Limestone, until the base was closed. He enjoyed working for McCain Foods as a semi-truck driver for several years also. But his real love was farming his property in Caribou, selling fruits, vegetables and alfalfa and entertaining all with his many stories.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife of 28 years, Addie Osborne Pooler; daughter Bobbie-Jo Pooler Diebold and companion Bill Haefner; son Rodney Pooler; step-sons, Kevin Mikel and wife Teresa, Scott Mikel and wife Karen; grandchildren, Kyle and Renee' Pooler, Brandon Diebold, David Mikel, Lizz Barraclough and husband Thomas, Olivia Blackman, great-grandchildren Phoenix Maltby, Zoey Mikel, Jaxon and Milo Barraclough; his brother John and wife Bette; and his dog Peep. He was also a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews and was also admired and cherished by his aunts, cousins and the many friends he made throughout his life.\r\n\r\nVisiting hours will be on Friday, September 8, 2017, from 1-3 p.m. at Fairfield Church of the Nazarene, in Fairfield. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with military honors. \r\n \r\nIn lieu of flower, donations may be made in his honor to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or DAV - Disabled American Veterans.
