Vassalboro, Maine-Robert William Starratt, Jr., 63, of Vassalboro, Maine died Sunday, December 30, 2012, surrounded by his family, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville, Maine. Bob was born on October 17, 1949 in Waterville, Maine, the son of Robert, Sr. and Corinne (Bragdon) Starratt. He attended Carl B. Lord, Erskine Academy, Waterville and Winslow High Schools, and obtained his G.E.D. During his life, Bob pursued many vocations but settled on becoming a self-employed Master Electrician. He was a Mason, and a member of the Vassalboro Lodge #54 A.F. & A.M., and also was a member of the Winslow Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Vassalboro United Methodist Church. Bob was an exceptional electrician, having wired numerous commercial and residential buildings in the State of Maine. Those who utilized his expertise realized early on in the installation process that they could live safely in their homes for their remaining lives. There is an unspoken guarantee that there is not one crooked wire in any wiring that he installed. Numerous people entered Bob’s life through the years, some stayed and some left but his devoted friends, Jessie and Laurel Akers remain loyal and loving to him and his family. We extend our appreciation to all the agencies, family and friends who helped Bob during the past several years with his illness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy will continue through his children and grandchildren. Bob was predeceased by his grandparents; his father Robert, Sr., his mother Corinne; and his brother, John Starratt. He is survived by his son, Robert ‘Robbie’ Starratt, III of North Vassalboro, Maine; his daughters, Carrie Starratt of North Vassalboro, Maine, and BobbiJo McKinnis of Albion, Maine; his sisters, Lorna Bradstreet and Nancy Doore of Albion, Maine. Bob is also survived by his loving and loyal companion, Nancy DeBlois of Augusta, Maine; his step-mother, Wilma Starratt of Vernon, CT; his grandchildren, Casey, Matt, Tristan, Ellie, Kati, Sydney and Danny; as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and aunts. There will be a celebration of his life on Sunday, January 6, 2013, from 10 to 1 pm at the V.F.W., Dunbar Road in Winslow, Maine. Spring burial to be announced at a later date. At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Robert W. Starratt, Jr. to Catholic Charities Maine, P.O. Box 10660, Portland, ME 04104-6060.
