FAIRFIELD, Maine--Roger R. LaBrie, 66, died unexpectedly on Friday, October 26, 2012. Roger, also known as Ray and Froggy, was born in Waterville, Maine on January 7, 1946, the son of Leo J. and Jeannet (Gervias) LaBrie. Ray attended Waterville schools. He was employed for many years at Health Tech in Gardiner, Maine before its closing. He then moved to New Hampshire and worked at Velcro for over 20 years. After retiring from Velcro, he returned home to Maine to once again be close to his family. Ray was a very social person; he would talk to everyone and made friends everywhere he went. He enjoyed fishing and camping. One of his favorite things to do was to get in his truck and drive all around Maine visiting family and friends both old and new. Ray was very well known for his love of frogs and collecting anything to do with them. Ray was predeceased by his parents; as well as two brothers, Alfred LaBrie and Lionel LaBrie. He is survived by seven siblings, Joseph LaBrie, of Fairfield, Maine, Mary Peace, of Augusta, Maine, Harold LaBrie, of Waterville, Maine, Simone Johnson, of Augusta, Maine, Paul LaBrie and his wife Charlene, of Benton, Maine, Pam LaBrie, of Waterville, Maine and Gary LaBrie, of Jefferson, Maine; and many nieces, nephews and friends, including one nephew in particular, Andy Sawtelle, whom he spent lots of time with and was the closest thing he ever had to a child of his own. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 6 at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield, Maine.
